B
Answer
Regulations and administration
Type
A
30 kHz
B
6 kHz
C
20 kHz
D
15 kHz

Answer Notes

For most of the high frequency (HF) spectrum between 7 MHz and 25 MHz, Canadian regulations restrict the maximum bandwidth of an amateur transmission to 6 kHz. This limitation ensures that precious spectrum space on these crowded bands is used efficiently. A 6 kHz limit easily accommodates standard HF modes like Single Sideband (SSB) voice, which uses about 3 kHz, as well as various narrowband digital modes. The 20 kHz and 30 kHz options are reserved for higher frequencies (like 10 meters and the VHF bands) where there is more spectrum available for wider modes like FM.
