Answer Notes
The 630-meter and 2200-meter bands are shared with utility companies, which use Power Line Carrier (PLC) systems on the power grid for command and control of electrical infrastructure. To prevent harmful interference to these critical utility systems, amateur operations are strictly coordinated.
Amateur radio operators must notify the Utilities Technology Council (UTC) of their intent to operate on these bands, providing their call sign and station coordinates. If the UTC does not object within 30 days, the amateur may begin transmitting. No special FCC license endorsement or FAA notification is required.
