Amateur station equipment
Type
A
Better for measuring computer circuits
B
Less prone to overload
C
Higher precision
D
Faster response

Answer Notes

Digital multimeters (DMMs) provide readings in an exact numerical format, often displaying values to several decimal places. This removes the guesswork involved in reading an analog meter, giving DMMs a significant advantage in precision. When using an analog multimeter, the operator must visually interpret the position of a physical needle sweeping across a printed scale. This introduces minor human reading errors and makes it impossible to achieve the same level of precise numerical detail found on a digital display. Interestingly, analog meters are actually superior for observing rapidly fluctuating voltages because the physical needle tracks changes smoothly, whereas a digital meter's screen can become a confusing blur of changing numbers. Therefore, 'faster response' is an incorrect distractor.
