Electrical current is measured in which of the following units?
D
Answer
Electrical principles and math
Type
A
Volts
B
Watts
C
Ohms
D
Amperes
Answer Notes
Electrical current is the rate at which electrons flow through a circuit. The standard unit of measurement for this flow is the Ampere (often shortened to "amp").
To understand why the distractors are incorrect, it helps to use the classic water pipe analogy. Volts measure the "pressure" pushing the electrons, Ohms measure the "resistance" or friction slowing them down, and Watts measure the total power or "work" being done. Only Amperes measure the actual volume of current flowing past a point.
