Answer Notes

An electronic keyer is a dedicated device used by amateur radio operators to assist in the manual sending of Morse code (CW). It is typically paired with a mechanical dual-lever paddle. When you press one lever, the keyer automatically generates a continuous string of perfectly timed "dits." Pressing the other lever produces perfectly timed "dahs." This automation removes much of the physical effort and timing strain required when using a traditional straight key. It is important not to confuse a Morse code keyer with other types of electronic "keys." It has nothing to do with security interlocks, voice-activated transmit switching (VOX), or antenna relays.
