The lower the receiver noise figure becomes, the greater will be the receiver's _________:

D
Answer
Propagation and operating practice
Type
A
rejection of unwanted signals
B
selectivity
C
stability
D
sensitivity

Answer Notes

Sensitivity is a receiver's ability to detect very weak signals. It is directly limited by the amount of internal noise the receiver's own components generate, which is measured by its 'noise figure'. When a receiver has a lower noise figure, it adds less internal electronic noise to the incoming signal. This lowers the receiver's overall noise floor, allowing fainter signals to stand out and be heard, thus directly increasing the receiver's sensitivity. In contrast, selectivity is the ability to reject unwanted signals on adjacent frequencies, and stability is the ability to hold a tuned frequency over time. Neither of these improves simply by lowering the internal noise figure.
