Answer
Regulations and administration
Type
A
on all amateur radio bands above 30 MHz
B
if only pulse modulation is used
C
on all amateur radio bands below 30 MHz
D
if the control transmitter does not exceed 15 kHz of occupied bandwidth
Answer Notes
Amateur radio operators are permitted to use their allocated frequencies for telecommand applications, such as operating radio-controlled (RC) models. However, Canadian regulations restrict the control of models strictly to amateur radio bands above 30 MHz.
Frequencies below 30 MHz (the HF bands) are highly susceptible to ionospheric skip and long-distance propagation. Using these frequencies for RC could cause unintended interference over vast distances. Therefore, RC operations are limited to VHF, UHF, and microwave bands, where signals are generally limited to line-of-sight.
