Answer Notes

In Morse code (CW) and many digital modes, the prosign "DE" is used to mean "from". It is derived from romance languages such as French or Spanish, where "de" translates directly to "from" or "of". It is used to separate the call sign of the station being called from the call sign of the station that is transmitting. For example, if VE3XYZ is calling W1AW, they would send "W1AW DE VE3XYZ", which simply translates to "W1AW from VE3XYZ".
