For best protection from electrical shock, what should be grounded in your station?
B
Answer
Basic radio theory
Type
A
The power supply primary
B
All station equipment
C
The transmission line
D
The AC power line
Answer Notes
To maximize electrical safety and prevent shocks, every piece of metallic equipment in your radio station should be properly connected to a common ground bus. If a live wire accidentally touches the metal chassis of any device, the ground connection provides a low-resistance path to earth, causing the circuit breaker to trip rather than electrifying the chassis.
Grounding just the transmission line or just the power supply primary leaves other interconnected equipment vulnerable to dangerous voltage potentials if a fault occurs.
