Which popular RF connector is designed to be moisture resistant?

D
Answer
Antennas and feed lines
Type
A
BNC
B
UHF
C
SMA
D
N

Answer Notes

The Type N connector is specifically engineered for excellent performance at high frequencies and in outdoor environments. One of its defining features is an internal rubber gasket (O-ring) that creates a moisture-resistant, weatherproof seal when the threaded coupling is properly tightened. Other common RF connectors lack this built-in weatherproofing. The standard UHF connector (PL-259), BNC, and SMA connectors are not inherently water-resistant. If these other connectors are used outdoors, they must be heavily wrapped in weatherproofing tape and coax seal to prevent water intrusion.
