Answer Notes

In frequency modulation (FM), the loudness of your voice determines how far the radio's signal deviates from its center frequency. If you speak too loudly or hold the microphone too close to your mouth, this deviation becomes too wide, which causes your signal to distort or 'clip' in the receiving station's radio. To fix an over-deviating signal, you simply need to reduce the audio input by backing away from the microphone or speaking more softly. Changing the RF power level or letting the radio cool off will not fix an audio modulation issue.
