Answer Notes
The word 'transceiver' is a portmanteau of the words 'transmitter' and 'receiver.' It refers to a single piece of equipment that contains both systems, enabling the user to both send and receive radio signals.
By combining both functions into one enclosure, transceivers often share internal circuitry (like oscillators and filters) between the transmit and receive stages. This makes them much more compact, efficient, and cost-effective compared to using a separate, standalone transmitter and receiver.
