Which term describes the ability of a receiver to discriminate between multiple signals?
C
Answer
Practical circuits, troubleshooting, and measurements
Type
A
Discrimination ratio
B
Sensitivity
C
Selectivity
D
Harmonic distortion
Answer Notes
Selectivity is the measure of a receiver's ability to isolate and select a desired signal while rejecting interference from other signals on nearby frequencies. A radio with good selectivity uses filters to block out unwanted adjacent-channel traffic.
A very common distractor is sensitivity. While selectivity deals with discriminating between multiple signals, sensitivity describes how well a receiver can pick up very weak signals. They are complementary but distinctly different characteristics.
