If you transmit from another amateur radio station, who is responsible for its operation?

D
Answer
Regulations and administration
Type
A
The station owner
B
You
C
The station owner, unless the station logbook shows you as the control operator
D
Both of you

Answer Notes

When you operate at a station owned by another amateur, a dual-responsibility rule applies. As the guest, you act as the control operator, meaning you are actively controlling the transmissions and must follow all operating procedures and rules. Meanwhile, the host remains the station owner. They are responsible for the physical setup, the transmitter's technical compliance, and ensuring you are authorized to use their equipment. Therefore, if a rule is broken during your transmission, both you (for making the illegal transmission) and the station owner (for allowing it on their equipment) are held responsible by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).
