Answer Notes

The Radiocommunication Act protects the privacy of communications. It is an offence to intercept and divulge the contents of any non-broadcasting radiocommunication to third parties, such as media organizations or journalists. There are strict legal exceptions to this privacy rule. You are permitted to disclose intercepted information if it is required for court proceedings, for the protection of property and prevention of harm, or for national security purposes. Sharing overheard communications with the press does not fall under any legal exemption and remains an offence.
