Answer Notes
The Type N connector, named after Paul Neill of Bell Labs, is a threaded RF connector designed to join coaxial cables. It features a rubber gasket inside the threaded housing, which provides excellent moisture resistance and makes it highly suitable for outdoor antenna connections.
Unlike the standard PL-259 connector, the Type N maintains a constant 50-ohm impedance throughout its structure. This precise engineering allows it to handle extremely high frequencies with very low SWR, typically performing exceptionally well up to 10 GHz or even 18 GHz in precision versions.
