Answer Notes
The 30-meter band (10.100 to 10.150 MHz) is unique in amateur radio because it is very narrow—only 50 kHz wide—and is allocated to amateurs on a secondary basis. To conserve space and minimize interference with primary users, the FCC restricts the types of emissions allowed here.
Only CW (Morse code) and narrow-band data (digital) modes are permitted. Phone (voice) operation requires significantly more bandwidth than CW or data, so it is strictly prohibited across the entire 30-meter band.
