Type
A
50 watts
B
100 watts
C
500 watts
D
1500 watts
Answer Notes
Frequencies above 30 MHz encompass the VHF, UHF, and microwave amateur bands. In these frequency ranges, Technician class operators are granted full operational privileges. As a result, they are allowed to use the exact same maximum power limit as General and Amateur Extra class operators, which is 1500 watts peak envelope power (PEP).
While Technicians are restricted to a 200-watt maximum on the HF bands (below 30 MHz), those restrictions do not carry over to operations above 30 MHz. Regardless of the band, operators must always remember the fundamental FCC rule of using the minimum power necessary to carry out the desired communication.
